My Personal Story

My grandpa and a few of his close friends decided to build their own hunting cabin on Lake Mokoma in Sullivan County, PA. Although it was pretty rustic, it had heating, indoor plumbing, and all the amenities you might need. It was a cozy cabin but had plenty of room for my family, my cousins, and my grandparents to all stay at one. We used to go up every August for about a week. It was always fun to escape the craziness of the fast paced world at home in exchange for a the calm and quiet life at the cabin. We would canoe on the lake, go blueberry picking in the woods, and take off-road bike rides on trails.

My all time favorite part about going to the cabin was taking a drive over to Loyalsock State Forest. I absolutely loved the trails and the water. The waterfalls were magical, especially how they poured out into crystal clear pools with awesome rocks. My parents, both forestry majors in college, would inform us about the different trees in the forest. We saw deer and other animals such as wild turkeys roaming around.

My mom sent me an email about how the Loyalsock may be drilled upon. I decided to take action and advocate to keep drilling and fracking off the gorgeous land. I truly believe that Loyalsock State Forest is one of the most beautiful places I've been and would hate to see it ruined by drilling and fracking. I also feel horrible for the people who have been affected by drilling already and seem to have no hope for their home.
